23 Tips for Your Ideal Nighttime Routine

Having a healthy evening routine in place can help you to relax after your day and feel rejuvenated for the next day, and we’re here to show you how to do it! From eating foods that are great for you to going to your cosmetic dental clinic for a checkup and prioritising self care, we’ve got you covered. 

Nutrient Dense Meal

First up when you get in from work it’s time to make yourself a nutrient dense meal that tastes amazing. Fuelling your body with food is so important, so we’re here with the perfect recipe to give your body what it needs whilst really enjoying what you’re eating. 

Start by choosing a protein source, so perhaps chicken, salmon, prawns, tofu, lamb, steak, whatever you love to eat. Aim for around 100-150g of meat or a veggie alternative for your protein. Then, choose a handful of carbs for your plate, whether it’s pasta, rice, potato, sweet potato, or anything else. Carbohydrates are an essential part of your diet to give you the energy you need, so incorporating them into your meal is key. Sweet potatoes, brown rice and brown pasta tend to be more nutrient dense, but you have to eat the foods that you love too. Finish off by filling the rest of your plate with colourful fruits and veg, as different coloured fruit and veg contain different nutrients. Go for roasted Mediterranean veg or a nice big salad to fuel your body and for it to taste lovely. 

1 Hour of Self Care

Next up, an hour of self care should be non-negotiable. Spending an hour doing something you simply love is so important. This might be an evening walk, an hour long bath, reading your favourite book, baking a cake, having a catch up with a friend, watching your favourite film or maybe even cleaning if that’s your form of self care!

Self care means something different to everyone, but as long as it makes you feel good, doesn’t add stress or worry and contributes something to your day, that’s what it’s all about. Running 13 miles for one person might be their self care, or reading 13 pages of a book would be for others. No matter how big or small, find something you love to do. Fit this into your evening routine and start to see the improvement in how you feel! 

Thorough Oral Health Routine

Finally this one is more health related, but having a thorough oral health routine is an important part of a healthy evening routine. Floss, brush with your electric toothbrush and then use mouthwash, to remove all the residue from the day. Your oral health has an impact on your overall health, as well as your confidence, as poor oral hygiene can cause things like bad breath, pain and tooth decay and damage. Book a dentist appointment if you haven’t been in the last 6 months, as they will also be able to spot things that you might not ever be able to, as there are so many serious oral health problems that can go unnoticed for months or even years. This is especially the case if you have had cosmetic work, like full dental implants.
