Following on from last year’s success, the Good Retail Awards return to the stage for 2023.

Taking place as part of Spring Fair on Sunday 5th February 2023, the Good Retail Awards are set to shine a light on the achievements of those embracing creativity and innovation to achieve retail success.

We take a look at the highlights of the 2022 Awards and give a sneak preview of everything the Good Retail Awards 2023 has in store.

Looking back at GRA 2022

The Good Retail Awards 2022 returned in person after the 2021 virtual awards ceremony, seeing entries from far and wide that showcased inspirational stories and innovative approaches to retail.

With an incredible number of entries, the judging panel had a challenging job, poring over the shortlisted entries to determine the Good Retail Awards 2022 winners.

Good Retail Awards 2022 Winners

The Good Retail Awards 2022 winners were announced on the Inspiring Retail Stage as part of Spring Fair, as well as being live-streamed to those watching at home.

The winners of the Good Retail Awards 2022 were as follows:

Mattress Online won the Sustainability Initiative Award for their end-to-end process designed to reduce their impact on the environment, including saving more than 100,000 mattresses going to landfill.

Postmark won the Instore Creativity Award for their innovative instore design, introducing a cherry blossom tree and writing snug for customers that create memorable experiences and allow shoppers to write their cards in a creative environment.

The Old Moat Garden Centre & Café won the Community Award for their ongoing work to support the recovery of local people living with mental ill-health, turning challenges into benefits for service users, whilst overcoming a fire on their premises.

Healthy Pet Store won the Bricks ‘n’ Clicks Award for their fun social media and instore initiatives to inform, advise and educate customers. Their work included running monthly advice clinics on social media with a canine nutrition certified member of staff, giving customers access to expert advice, as well as showcasing their doggy jackets with a ‘catwalk’ for dogs.

MandM Direct won the Digital Impact Award for their product recommendation strategy, combining customer data, including intent and design tools to drive revenue, conversion rates and customer lifetime value while reducing abandonment. This enabled MandM Direct to improve the relevance of products, increase click-through rates and harness real-time deep learning to make personalised product suggestions.

Watford BID won the Retail District Award for their innovative campaigns to benefit businesses in the area. Their work included the launch of Watford LinkUp, enabling businesses and their employees to network, share offers, news, vacancies, events and training courses. They also produced and sent out weekly updates to businesses, encouraging managers to undertake mental health awareness training, hosting a Wellness Week and launching the Watford Gift Card.

Whitfords won the Power of One Award for their creation of a sustainable solution to packaging; FibrePods. They utilised loofah as it is an unprocessed, natural material that can be hand-pressed and air-dried to fit any product. Once customers receive their product in one of Whitfords’ FibrePods, they can then use it as a body or kitchen scrub for weeks, before being used to germinate seeds instead of plastic pots. After this, it can be put in a compost bin or be planted in the garden with a seedling, composting in around 30 days.
