Most people think that having good skin is far beyond their reach. But in reality, all it takes is consistent efforts and using the right products, which results in radiant and healthy skin.
Skincare routines are different for everybody, depending on what they are trying to achieve in their skin. Some people want to prevent their flare-ups, reduce their breakouts, get rid of the stubborn wrinkles on their skin or even all of the above.
Fortunately, having an effective skincare routine does not have to be a chore – it is more like giving your skin a luxurious and relaxing treatment every day. But to maintain a healthy skincare routine, here are a few dos and don’ts to help you make full use of your skincare products.
The Dos of Skincare
Wearing Sunscreen
Not a lot of people realize this, but the damage caused by sun rays can have a massive effect on us. In fact, one of the primary causes of aging skin is due overexposure to the sun’s UV rays.
Sunscreen serves as an essential part of a skincare routine as it protects the skin from getting harmed by these dangerous rays. Your moisturizer or makeup might have some sunscreen in it, but it might not be enough to last for the whole day. Consider opting for independent sunscreens that have at least SPF 30.
Concentrate on Antioxidants
As you grow older, you produce less collagen, which results in loosening the elastin fibers of your skin. Wrinkles begin to appear on your skin during this process and to prevent that, you need to add antioxidants to your skincare routine, preferably vitamins E and C, lycopene, selenium, and beta-carotene.
The Don’ts of Skincare
Don’t Forget to Moisturize Everyday
In a rush, people often forget to moisturize their skin or don’t apply it properly onto their skin. A moisturizer serves as a crucial aspect of your skincare routine, regardless of whether your skin is dry or oily. It keeps your skin healthy, radiant, and flush throughout the day, so make sure to opt for a moisturizer that works with your skin type and use it every day.
Avoid Over-Exfoliating
As a product that removes dead skin cells and gives room for the new skin, exfoliation is an excellent addition to your skincare routine. But it also requires you to be careful and not overdo it.
It is important to give your skin some rest after treatment; otherwise, over-exfoliation can lead to the removal of new and healthy skin cells as well. Less is definitely better for this product, and for most skin types, you only need to exfoliate one or two times a week.
