Hello, my sweet scent-savvy sisters! I wish you all a great week ahead. As for me, I am sitting here on my bed sipping tea and sniffing the new Bath and Body works fine fragrance mist in Saltwater Breeze.

Launched in 2020, Bath and Body works describes the scent Saltwater Breeze as a clean blend of fresh linen, water blossom & white musk. The scent is a big departure from Bath and Body works warm, thick, and sugary scents and is more towards the fresher and aquatic side.

It’s clean, crisp and very tropical.

Describe the brand in three words

Body-care. Drugstore. American.

What is it?

A gentler, mellifluous body fragrance spray. Simply put, think of body fragrance mists as lighter, softer versions of Eau de Parfums or Eau de Toilettes. As opposed to concentrated perfumes, body mists are airier and powdery textured.

They offer a pleasing all-over scent that isn’t overpowering to the senses.

A fine fragrance body mist with beachy vibes for casual and everyday use.

Top – Fresh linen

Heart – Water blossom

Base – White musk

Who is it for?

Smelling of the ocean and fresh laundry, it’s a universally non-offensive scent. So, it’s perfect for anyone including ladies like me who aren’t much into fragrances but would like something to wear every now and then.

And if you happen to like aquatic fragrances, you’re certainly going to like this one. It’s also a good fragrance for Summer as it is super refreshing.

Alcohol, parabens, sulphates, phthalates and other harmful chemicals.

How do I use it?

Spray directly all over my body on damp skin after bath. In fact, body mists are best applied on clean, wet skin post-shower or bath. This way you can make your fragrance last fairly long.

I also sometimes apply it on my pulse points just before going out as a quick ‘refresh-me-up’.

How’s the packaging?

Very cool.

Looks like an ocean in the bottle with its attractive aquatic blue plastic bottle and see-through, air-tight lid.

What’s good about it?

• Very fresh and light scent.
• Universally non-offensive fragrance.
• Lasts all day long when applied on damp skin after a bath.
• Hydrating and good for the skin.
• Travel-friendly, convenient packaging.
• Feels very outdoorsy and revitalizing.

What is my personal experience with the fragrance?

It’s been quite a while since I’ve visited a beach. And I miss being at the ocean. After all, no luxury can beat the leisure of simply sitting in the sun, sipping chilled beer and watching the waves roll in.

So, when I spotted this bottle of Saltwater Breeze fragrance mist that looked like an ‘ocean in the bottle’ in its sea-blue colour packaging at the Bath and Body works store in the main city square, Amsterdam, I couldn’t help but take a whiff.

The very first nose-full transported me away on a tropical daydream. The scent smelled strongly of sea waves and crisp cotton. And the memories of all those soul-soothing sunsets I’d spent at the beach came alive.

But ten minutes later, the musky sweetness started to work its magic on my body chemistry. And the scent now revealed its floral notes that smelled more like a feminine, sophisticated version of a men’s cologne on my skin.

Considering its coastal feel, I initially assumed Bath and Body Works Saltwater Breeze to be similar to Davidoff cool water, which is a supremely summery scent. But even though it bears a striking resemblance to the old all-time favourite scent for most fragrance fiends, it’s no way like the latter.

Despite its watery notes top notes, the presence of violet leaf and white musk in the base takes Saltwater Breeze in a totally different direction. There’s an elusive sweetness to it, which isn’t fruity but kind of like floral and candies making it wearable for fall months too.

I usually prefer aqua and citrus scents to sweet and spicy fragrances. Sweet and spicy scents can sometimes feel overwhelmingly sharp and cloying to my olfactory nerves. But the way Bath and Body Works Saltwater Breeze balances sweet violet with salty water, I love it.

The scent that comes out is neither sharp nor totally marine. Yet, it has a beachy vibe to it. If you like fresh ocean scents, you’re certainly going to like this one too.
