ART ELEMENTS BLOG HOP SEPTEMBER THEME: FOLIAGE

This is my 1st time collaborating in an Art Elements Site Hop.  I was intrigued by the theme of foliage due to the fact that has been my concept for most of the a long time I have been earning ceramic beads.  I usually make a mildew from plants and use it as the foundation for pendants, toggle clasps and cabochons.  I often hand paint on the coloured glazes and virtually under no circumstances use underglazes. The photograph higher than is a sample of pendants in my typical way of building.

For some time I have been considering about other ways of producing leaves and bouquets.  I have a selection of dried leaves that have fallen off a rubber plant I have in the property. I really like their graceful stream and lyrical strains and form.

 I decided I preferred to hand establish my leaves and bouquets. These leaves (pictured above) and some Victorian botanical drawings ended up my inspiration.  I confined my equipment to employing an orange wood cuticle adhere for makings the markings  on the leaves. My clay overall body was a white stoneware clay which I hearth to cone 5 (a bit above 2100 levels F.)  I began compact but as time went on my leaves received even larger and larger.

When it came to glazing what I created I was a bit stymied at very first.  I determined to consider some underglazes which I you should not commonly like simply because they are so rigid.  But I preferred all these markings to display up by way of the other glazes I used.  So I tried using out a black and a blue.  I was not disappointed with the result.
