The Influencer-Approved Festival Fashion Tips You Need To Know

With Coachella kicking off this weekend for the first time since 2019, festival season is finally back in action. If you are out of practice for festival dressing and need some refreshers on what is in and what you should definitely not be packing, I reached out to fashion and lifestyle influencer Brandon Osorio for his advice on what to wear to festivals this summer.

Keep reading to get the scoop on his festival must-haves and top trends that he is excited to see:

SARAH BOYD: What items are on your festival fashion wish list?

BRANDON OSORIO: The perfect vintage or distressed tees, baggy cargo pants, and comfortable jeans are all on my wish list. This season I’m planning to keep it simple: comfy tee, good pairs of pants, and fun sneakers.

SB: Are there any celebrities or style icons you are looking to for festival style inspiration?

BO: I mostly find fashion inspiration from strangers around me. I’ll be at a coffee shop or walking home from the subway and will see an outfit I love, write down the outfit in my iPhone notes app, and make a mental memory of the fit. I’m a creep (in the best way possible).

SB: What fashion trends do you anticipate seeing this year at music festivals?

BO: I think we’ll see more of an inclusion and emphasis on high fashion brands. Margiela Tabi boots, Bode knits, Rick Owens sneakers, etc. have all become commonplace, so I envision festival couture to also expand to include more editorial type looks (versus the 2016 Coachella headbands we’re all familiar with).

SB: Any tips on how to style one of these trends?

BO: Less is more, always!

SB: What festival style trends are played out or over in 2022?

BO: Leave the Indian headdresses at home.

SB: What’s your #1 must-have that everyone needs if they’re on their way to a music festival this summer?

BO: Low expectations and an open mind. 🤗
