Paris Fashion Week Street Style Fall 2022
With Paris Fashion Week happening partly in March, street style usually revolves around the latest spring trends, even though winter dressing is still de rigueur. This year, showgoers blended elements from both seasons seamlessly, pairing knit sweaters with breezy wide-leg pants or layering turtlenecks under short-sleeved jackets. While the outfits were a master class in transitional dressing, they were still more imaginative than practical. From a ’60s-era Dior colorblock minidress to a striking turquoise suit straight out of “The Matrix,” the sources of inspiration were as exciting as they were varied.
Neutrals were far from boring this season, with cool takes on denim and khaki separates including Yara Shahidi’s Dior cape. The “Grown-ish” actress paired her camel piece with two green mini bags, simultaneously bringing back the double-bag trend and ushering in the bright-accessories trend we saw in New York. Likewise, a crisp white set felt fresh and exciting with the addition of a bright-orange bucket hat and green Dior bag.
Colors featured prominently in clothing, too. A striped rainbow sweater with green pants looked bold and sophisticated, as did a monochromatic coat and bag combo anchored by a pair of black boots. With a full turquoise suit or a pop of blue by way of box braids, Paris showgoers confirmed that the mood-boosting color trend is here to stay.
Prints also enjoyed a resurgence this season, with tie-dye and watercolor pants energizing simple wardrobe staples. One button-down top with dramatic shoulders looked like a work of art, rendered in an all-over swirling pattern.
With pops of color, sheer panels, and statement handbags, the fashion set seemed to be slowly dipping their toes back into event dressing, just in time for spring and hopefully the return of our social calendars.
