The 12.5% ABV Reserva Especial Sauvignon Blanc is on shelf in some multiple grocers from today and will also be available to independent and symbol group stores through wholesalers including Bestway and Booker.
Recommended retail price is £8 to £10 for a 750ml bottle.
The launch will be supported by a marketing campaign running from May to June in the national press and broadcast video-on-demand, aimed at premium wine-drinkers in the ABC1 demographic groups.
Point-of-sale material will be available for retailers to order.
Sauvignon Blanc is UK’s number one grape variety, says parent company Concha y Toro, worth almost £1bn in retail sales and accounting for about 15% of the entire light wine category.
The Reserva Especial Sauvignon Blanc is the first new wine launched by Casillero since its Spanish Tempranillo in March 2021.
Claire Raine, marketing manager for Casillero del Diablo in the UK, said the brand is growing at 3.8%, thanks in part to the launch of the Spanish Tempranillo and its recent TV advertising campaign featuring brand ambassador Pedro Pascal.
Winemaker Max Weinlaub described the Reserva Especial Sauvignon Blanc as featuring “fresh flavours with a very vibrant acidity”, as well as “green apple notes” and “herbal touches”.
The wine is said to pair well with fish, shellfish and creamy, fatty cheeses.
