What do I think about this Garnier SPF 50 Sunscreen?
About the packaging
The tube comes in a cardboard box which does not contain any plastic. In the box, you can read the ingredient list, product features, and other pieces of information about the product as well as some advice and precaution to use.
Inside, there is a squeeze tube with a flip-top cap. In principle, it is a normal squeeze tube, except that the materials used to make it are not normal plastic. The materials used to make the tube are integrated cardboard. It is a patented material called “FSC certified cardboard” which allows using 49% less plastic than in a normal, same-size plastic squeeze tube.
The material feels exactly like plastic and does not break with continuous use. I feel it is easier to get most of the product out of the tube, as the shape when almost over is not moving to the original shape and, therefore, it is not mixing the remaining product with air.
For the cap, they are using the same material. It is white and smaller than in conventional tubes, which again reduces the amount of plastic. It has a nozzle of the right size to dispense the product you need in a precise and controlled way.

About Garnier SPF 50 Sunscreen texture and smell
The product itself is a white cream with a medium consistency. It is not too runny nor too dense. It is a lightweight formula, easy to apply and spread easily all over the face. The skin immediately absorbs the product which does not leave any white cast or greasy residue. That is an important property as most of the sunscreens I tried in the past leave a white cast on my face.
This product does not have any fragrance. It does not have the typical sunscreen smell, which particularly I don’t dislike because it reminds me of my childhood. As it does not contain any fragrance, all skin types can use this product, including sensitive skin, and it will significantly reduce the risk of an allergic reaction.
About Garnier SFP50 Sunscreen Ingredients
The ingredients in the formula with sunscreen properties are Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid, Drometrizole Trisiloxane. They are all chemical sunscreen ingredients which are non-comedogenic ingredients.
It contains other beneficial ingredients, such as niacinamide, vitamin E, glycerin and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients are all highly indicated for dry and mature skin types. Niacinamide, which is in the fifth position of the ingredient list and, therefore, should be in a good concentration, is a very good antioxidant molecule which minimises the damage caused by UV radiation. Vitamin E also reinforces this function.
Hyaluronic acid and glycerin are good hydrating ingredients, which retain the water and lock in on the skin.

What are the effects of Garnier SPF 50 Sunscreen on my skin?
I apply this product as the last step of my morning skincare routine, after the moisturiser and before applying the makeup. However, I don’t reapply this product during the day as I wear makeup and I prefer to use other products for reapplication instead.
I like how this product feels on my skin. First of all, as I already mentioned, I don’t feel my skin sticky or oily and it does not leave a white residue. The skin absorbs it quickly and I don’t need to wait long times before makeup. It leaves a matte finish also.
The application of this sunscreen does not affect the makeup’s results. Most of the time I use this sunscreen as a primer and the foundation used looks exactly the same as when I apply it without this sunscreen. It does not reduce the lasting time of the makeup product.
I feel my face hydrated with this product. However, I could not see any difference related to the anti-wrinkle effect. I almost don’t have any wrinkles, so it is possible that the product avoids the formation of new wrinkles, but it does not eliminate the existing ones.
Regarding the main function of this product, the sunscreen functionality, I believe it is protecting my skin. There is no obvious way to verify if your skin is protected or not. Yes, there are some devices which tell you that, but they are very expensive and normally for professional people.

Summary
In summary, this product is a good affordable option to get your skin protected from the sun radiation while hydrated at the same time. You can use it with or without makeup and your skin will not look greasy or white. It is a highly recommended option for people with dry or mature skin.
