4 WOC Entrepreneurs to Celebrate on International Women’s Day

We’re approaching another year of celebrating women, and what better way to appreciate women than to support the fearless women who’ve taken leaps in their lives – personal and entrepreneurial – to create a place for women to thrive and feel appreciated. Of course, there are so many things to do and say during this time of year, but here’s a quick start!

For International Women’s Day, I am spotlighting five women who are doing amazing things in their community:

Zareefa Arije, Founded Ammu Beauty, an ayurvedic skincare brand Ayurvedic Skincare

Founded by Zareefa Arije, founded Ammu Beauty with a mission to deliver clean, ayurvedic skincare to preserve everyone’s natural beauty. Rooted in the ayurvedic beauty practices her mother practiced in her kitchen growing up, she learned very early on that anything could be cured with the right food and herbs leading with Zareefa becoming a formulator for about 10 years to help with her personal ailments, skin condition. Shortly after, she became the go-to person to formulate for friends and family for specific skin ailments. After the sudden passing of her mother,  Ammu, Zareefa started her skincare line as a way of grieving, with it eventually turning into something extraordinary – Ammu Beauty.

Ammu Beauty was founded with a mission to deliver clean, ayurvedic skincare to preserve everyone’s natural beauty. Inspired by and named after her late mother, Ammu Beauty is rooted in the ayurvedic beauty practices her mother practiced in her kitchen growing up having learned very early on that anything could be cured with the right food and herbs. Ammu’s face masks come in a water-activated powder form with all-natural ingredients, made from refined formulas Ammu had been making for decades.

Payal & Kajal Vitha, Founded Sonu Company, a custom engagement ring service

Payal and Kajal Vitha are 3rd generation jewelers following in the footsteps of their father who leads the market in the jewelry space in Southern California. Both majoring in Business with an emphasis in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Kajal works at her family’s store, while Payal works in sales – while simultaneously running Sonu Company. Through their own personal experiences and the questions/struggles their friends faced when wanting to start the process of buying an engagement ring, the duo received tons of feedback from their friends that they didn’t feel they were getting transparent and honest answers, and weren’t given the right information to make an informed decision when it came to buying an engagement ring, thus the beginning stages of Sonu Company. 

Based in Los Angeles, Sonu Company is the one-of-a-kind engagement ring service on the rise founded by sister duo and 3rd generation jewelers, Payal and Kajal Vitha. Born out of a lack of transparency, honesty, and education when it came to purchasing engagement rings, Sonu Company works with each client on a 1:1 basis to create their partner’s dream wedding ring. Made with ethically sourced and certified diamonds for each custom-designed ring, they pride themselves on transparency, quality, affordability, and education from start to finish.

In Hindi, Kahani means story. At Kahani Digital, we are a team of storytellers looking to bring your brand’s narrative to the world. We understand that every brand has a story to tell and will help bring it to life with creative content creation, insightful social media strategies and meaningful collaborations.

Hani Anis started Kahani Digital with the intention of catering specifically to South Asian businesses. As a South-Asian company ourselves, we are not only able to understand the roots of our clients’ businesses but also convey their story in a way that resonates with their audience.
