GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING PROJECTS (November 11, 2008) — The American Forest Foundation and Esurance have announced they will award environmental education grants of up to $6,000 to metro Phoenix-area schools and youth groups for community-based learning projects. Examples of previous GreenWorks! grants include school gardens, recycling projects and nature trails. Applications are due on January 30, 2009 to Project Learning Tree (PLT), which administers the grant program. Applicants must be trained in PLT or receive training as part of their grant. AFRE RECEIVES TWO AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE

VALLEY LEADERS NAMED TO AFRE ADVISORY COUNCIL

(April 18, 2007) – The Arizona Foundation for Resource Education (AFRE) has named 17 Arizona community and education leaders to its new advisory council. AFRE Executive Director Dr. Larry McBiles said that the council will play an important role in the growth and evolution of the nonprofit organization. Read more

NATURAL RESOURCES POSTER IS AWARD-WINNING TEACHING TOOL

(October 18, 2005) — A collaboration between AFRE and the National Energy Foundation (NEF) has produced an award-winning teaching resource for use by teachers across the nation. "Exploring Natural Resources and their Uses" is a beautifully illustrated poster highlighting all natural resources, their related industries, and their value to our livelihood and lifestyles.
