Important Note: This workshop will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and offers 5.5 instructional hours. ASU Polytechnic students will receive additional training in the 5E Model of Inquiry in the week preceding this event.
Where is the “big faucet” for the Valley? What keeps our water supply flowing and where does it come from? We’ll use water as the context for learning while delving into the 5E Model of Inquiry as we engage ourselves in this vital topic, explore one or more bodies of water in the East Valley, and learn how to translate your field experiences into classroom activities guaranteed to maximize student learning!

Learning Outcomes and Indicators
By participating in this study tour, learners will:
- Analyze the role of a healthy water supply to the Valley by examining water samples captured by participants.
- Understand the inquiry process by applying the 5E Model of Inquiry throughout the workshop.
- Recognize factors that contribute to a sustainable water supply by reviewing historical and contemporary data and comparing it to models and predictions for the next century.
- Explore diverse career opportunities in hydrology by participating in cooperative learning activities.
