AFRE

Since our inception in 2001 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, AFRE has become a unique resource for Arizona K-12 educators in all disciplines.

AFRE is a collaborative nonprofit organization that unites education, business and other organizations that are engaged in promoting understanding about Arizona's natural resources and the environment. Our approach to environmental education is to provide a broad spectrum of current information representing diverse perspectives.

Hands-On Learning
Our unique partnership with business and industry allows our faculty and event participants ready access to industry experts and real-world learning opportunities throughout the state. Arizona becomes our living classroom.

Each year our corporate and other financial support allow us to present our AZventure Series — nearly three dozen professional development events focusing on natural resources and related themes.

A Teacher-Centered Approach
AFRE's approach to professional development is teacher-centered because high quality teaching assures high student achievement. To that end, we also offer our Best Practices Series of public workshops, custom-tailored training and support services. These workshops and related services enhance educators' instructional and leadership skills for the purpose of comprehensive school improvement and increased academic achievement of Arizona's students.
